Introducing the Three Piece Rule

Often I find myself struggling to create more than a simple, basic outfit. Don’t get me wrong—I LOVE jeans and a tee shirt, but it’s not always what I’m looking for when I want to look sophisticated and stylish.

Introducing the Three Piece Rule, a simple and easy way to make your outfits look way more chic and put-together. It goes like this: simply add a “third piece” to make up your outfit. The first two parts are your top and bottom, the core pieces. Your job is to add that third element that makes your outfit was more polished. Shoes, obviously, are excluded in the three pieces.

The third piece is up to you. Be creative! To get you started, here are some good basics for what your third piece can consist of…

  • Blazer
  • Cardigan
  • Scarf
  • Chunky necklace (or any statement jewelry)
  • Vest
  • Sweater (layered over your top)
  • Flannel
  • Hat

As you can see, the third piece leaves you open to creativity. There’s so many options; you can try a new one each day! Not every single outfit you wear must contain a third piece—The Three Piece Rule is simply an easy, efficient way to look more put-together and fashionable!
