5 Ways to Achieve Your Fitness Goals

Someone once told me that the hardest part of the gym was getting there. This is true: once you’re there, it’s easier to make the most of it and get a great workout.

For those of us who work during the day or are in school, sometimes the only time to workout is late at night or early in the morning. I know how hard it is to wake up when it’s still dark out, and how easy it is to hit that snooze button. To keep you pumped, ready, and motivated, here are five tips to “just do it.”

Go with friends. Working out with friends makes it 10x more fun; you can chat, catch up, and push each other to achieve your bests. Planning to go with a friend also holds yourself responsible to not back out or cancel last minute. My mom, for example, plays doubles tennis. She knows she can’t cancel because that’d make the team an odd number.

Try a class. Giving yourself a consistent workout schedule can remind you to attend class each day, and give you some structure when it comes to what workout to do. It also motivates you to get your money’s worth by going to each class!

Listen to music. This, honestly, makes workouts way more fun and totally motivating. Jamming out to your favorite song while running that last mile makes it all worth it. Choose music YOU like; it’s different for everyone.

Find the right time. Not every time works for everybody. Find a time that works for you and schedule accordingly. This will make it easiest for you to hit the gym and not make excuses. You don’t need to go at five A.M. to get a great workout.

Don’t think of it as a chore. Working out shouldn’t be a chore. Just think about how you feel afterwards… accomplished, proud, and happy. Think of this before each workout, and remind yourself you’re doing this because you want to!
