How to Stay Fit During the Colder Months

As the weather cools down and we pull out our winter coats again, it becomes less and less appealing to walk to the library or go for a run outdoors. Totally understandable; the chilly air makes me want to curl up with a blanket and a book. However, there are easy ways for you to keep up your fitness goals! You’ll be happier (and healthier) for it.

  1. Try a spin class! Spinning is such a fun way to keep active—not only is the music stellar, but the community and class environment are great. The instructor leads you through the workout, and you have tons of opportunities to push yourself! Plus, it’s a great variety: you mix up sprinting with resistance.

  1. Practice yoga! Often people don’t realize the many different types of yoga there are out there. There are calming, stress-relieving classes, and there are muscle-building, strengthening classes. Either way, yoga is a great way to stay fit in the winter time and stay out of the cold weather!
  2. Bundle up, and go for a walk! Even though it is cold outside, that’s no reason to avoid it! Zip up your jacket; put on your hat, scarf, and mittens. Embrace the beauty of the winter—there’s no other time of year quite like it 🙂
