Styles This Season that I’m Falling in Love With

With each season comes new trends. This fall is no different—I am loving the designs this autumn brings, whether that’s platform sneakers or over-the-knee boots. Here are some styles my closet has recently acquired and/or I’ve been loving incorporating into my outfits.

Plaid Shawl

Quite honestly is this more of blanket than it is a sweater. I like to call it a socially acceptable way to wear a blanket, especially when you’re walking outside on a fall day—This shawl is warm & comforting. It’s perfect for this season because it’s all you need with a turtleneck and some boots. I like to wear leggings with it to maximize comfort levels.

Flared Pants

The first thought that comes to mind when I think of flared pants is, quite literally, “yay!” They are the perfect way to change up your usual skinny jeans and leggings. Not to mention they are also incredibly flattering! Flared pants can be denim, high-waisted, or any other fabric or pattern.

Skirts

Recently I’ve been wearing skirts more often; they are definitely something I want to add more of to my closet. I always laugh when people mention that I’m “fancy” because I chose a skirt—In reality, the only reason I decided to wear a skirt is because I didn’t feel like putting on pants that morning. Skirts both look nice and are comfortable: You can’t get better than that 🙂 Make them for suitable for fall by pairing skirts with black tights and boots!

Puffer Vests

My favorite vests are from J. Crew! They keep you warm but are also okay to wear inside, which is what I like. They’re great for throwing on when you want another layer of warmth, and they also add a “third piece” to your outfit. Try wearing your vest with a sweater or turtleneck! Perfect for this season when it’s too cold for just a top but too warm for a heavy parka.

Rain Jackets

I am aware this may seem a bit random, as rain jackets are often used a necessity rather than a style. However, it does rain a lot more in fall than [I] expected! Rain coats can usually act as a wind breakers as well, which is a useful wardrobe aspect for fall. Find a stylish raincoat that you love. I am obsessed with my mom’s! She gets annoyed that I always ask to borrow it so often 🙂 Stylish raincoats are cute and practical.

Over-the-Knee Boots

Ah, I love these! They are insanely trendy and a great way to finish the look of an outfit. I especially love these boots with skirts and dresses, as it’s a great way to create a look that’s better suited for colder weather. Pair tights with them to stay warm.

Sherpa Pullover

Yes, this is a real thing. The one I chose is monogrammed, which I especially love because it makes a simple sweater look a nicer than simply wearing a fuzzy jacket. It’s wonderfully cute & soft, plus exactly what I need when I’m getting paper work done in a coffee shop.

Platform Sneakers

The latest ones I have are Superga. I chose navy because it’s a “neutral” color that looks good with manifold outfits & colors. My sister chose gray, which is another awesome color if you want to be able to wear something with a wide variety of apparel. White is also a nice color; the only downside is its great tendency to show dirt. Platform sneakers are an intriguing twist on your typical Converse or Vans. I especially love how they provide me with added height!

P.J. Set

Yes!! Are PJ sets acceptable to wear in public? Who knows! I do anyway! A good friend recently told me my outfits “are bipolar” because so often do I start the week wearing a dress and end the week with pajamas. To this I respond with an exceptional quote from the one & only Demi Lovato! As she once said, “I’m sorry (I’m not sorry).”
