Recipe: St. Patty’s Day Peppermint Shakes (GF, V)

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! In honor of today, here is a recipe that reminds me of McDonald’s iconic “Shamrock Shakes,” a Saint Patrick’s Day necessity. However, this recipe has a healthy twist on the usual good ol’ milkshakes, as this recipe utilizes frozen bananas instead of ice cream, as well as spinach (you can’t taste it!) instead of green food dye.

Looking for other green recipes? I made this shake last year for Saint Patrick’s Day, as it is full of the wonderful healthfood spirulina, as well as sweetness & cinnamon. This smoothie is also great, incorporating vanilla protein powder and being an awesome way to begin your day and/or fuel up after a workout.

St. Patty’s Day Peppermint Shakes

Serves: 3


  • 2 bananas, frozen
  • 2 cups plant milk
  • 1/4 tsp. peppermint extract
  • 1 cup greens, frozen
  • 1 serving vanilla vegan protein power
  • Handful of ice


Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend. Simple as that! Serve with a straw.
